Survey Technician

Overview

Hazleton Division, a division of The H&K Group, Inc., is looking for a self motivated Survey Technician to assist the Party Chief and the survey department in general. Prior experience and education are a bonus but not necessary. Though a willingness to learn and contribute to our technology driven Survey Dept. is necessary. Our Survey Team is not only responsible for the general layout of our projects but to work with project management to apply best site development practices to ensure Quality Control throughout the life of our projects. You will be exposed to the latest technology the Survey industry has to offer including; 3D Machine Control, Data acquisition via drone and scanners, Survey and modeling software, Robotic and GNSS hardware.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities/Duties:

• The technician will develop the ability to perform surveying & mapping duties under the direction of the Party Chief.
• Develop fundamental construction layout concepts and skills.
• Develop the ability to read and understand project drawings.
• Learn the proper use and care of modern surveying equipment including; Robotic instruments, GPS base stations, and Machine Control systems.
• The tech will be performing quality control procedures to ensure that work is being performed to expected tolerances.
• They will be able to record topographic data, perform volume calculations, verify data for construction, mapping, boundary, mining or other purposes.
