Job Summary:
The Lumber Yard Associate is an important part of the Sack Lumber team and plays a key role in serving our contractor and homeowner customers. This position is responsible for safely and efficiently handling lumber and building materials, preparing customer orders, loading and unloading deliveries, maintaining a safe, clean, and, organized yard, and providing friendly, helpful service to customers.
The ideal candidate is dependable, hardworking, safety-minded, and willing to learn. Previous lumber or construction experience is helpful but not required. We will train the right person.
Hours: M-F 8:00am-5:00pm, Saturdays 8am-noon on rotating basis

Responsibilities:
- Greet customers and provide friendly, helpful service.
- Pull, stage, and load lumber and building-material orders accurately and efficiently
- Load customer vehicles safely and help secure materials when appropriate. Check invoices to make sure the correct products are loaded.
- Operate forklifts and other material-handling equipment safely after receiving appropriate training
- Inspect materials for damage, defects, or quantity discrepancies and report problems to Yard Manager
- Assist with daily upkeep and straightening of lumber bins and store shelves. Cull inventory as needed/directed.
- Assist with inventory counts and maintaining accurate inventory
- Learn Point of Sale system and be able to assist customers inside the retail store.
- Attend all staff meetings.
- Adhere to all store policies and safety standards.
- Safe and secure delivery of materials to job sites.
Qualifications:
- Dependable and willing to work as part of a team.
- Strong work ethic and positive attitude.
- Ability to safely lift and move lumber and building materials.
- Organized, self-starter who thinks independently and solves problems.
- Ability and willingness to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Basic ability to read and understand measurements and written instructions.
- Previous experience in construction, lumber, building materials, warehousing, or material handling is preferred, but not required.
- Forklift experience preferred but not required.
- Must have valid US Driver's License and clean driving record for deliveries.
