Financial Navigator – Patient Services

The Financial Navigator supports patients by assessing their financial needs, explaining the costs of care, and guiding them through insurance, billing, and assistance programs throughout their treatment journey. This role serves as a primary point of contact for patients regarding insurance and financial concerns.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Verify insurance eligibility, benefits, and authorizations to estimate out-of-pocket costs.

  • Meet with patients and families to discuss financial responsibilities and assistance options.

  • Screen and assist with applications for Medicaid, SSI, charity care, and other aid programs.

  • Educate patients on coverage options, including transitions to Medicare or loss of employer insurance.

  • Collaborate with internal pharmacy support to access medication assistance programs.

  • Track patient assistance applications, follow up on insurance questions, and document all financial communications.

  • Maintain compliance with all applicable regulations and respond to inquiries from patients or clinical staff.

  • Reconcile daily transactions and assist with payment arrangements.

  • Stay current on financial assistance opportunities and support resources.

Qualifications:

  • Associate’s Degree in Business or related field, or two years of experience in healthcare billing or financial counseling.

  • Strong knowledge of insurance processes, billing, and financial aid resources.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and general office equipment.

  • Excellent communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.

  • Familiarity with medical terminology and compliance laws.

  • Completion of internal financial services and navigator training preferred.
