Are you a strong nursing leader who thrives in dynamic environments and wants to make a meaningful impact across an entire hospital? We’re looking for a Float Nurse Manager to provide leadership across inpatient units and the Float Pool while partnering closely with Quality, Risk, Accreditation, and Infection Control teams.
This is a high-impact role for someone who can balance clinical leadership, operational oversight, and a deep commitment to safety, quality, and trauma-informed care.
What You’ll Do
As the Float Nurse Manager, you will:
- Lead hospital-wide staffing coordination to ensure safe, effective coverageÂ
- Oversee and support Float Pool nursing staff, including hiring, onboarding, and mentoringÂ
- Provide direct supervision, coaching, and performance management for nursing personnelÂ
- Partner with leadership to maintain regulatory compliance and continuous survey readinessÂ
- Drive quality improvement initiatives and monitor key safety and performance metricsÂ
- Support accreditation efforts and collaborate on plans of correction following surveysÂ
- Serve as a liaison between nursing, Risk Management, and Quality teamsÂ
- Promote a culture of safety, accountability, and just culture principlesÂ
- Ensure high standards of documentation and patient care deliveryÂ
- Step in to support clinical operations, including difficult-to-fill shifts when needed

This role is more than staffing and supervision—you’ll:
- Lead performance improvement projects and ensure lasting changeÂ
- Analyze and trend data to improve patient outcomes and operational performanceÂ
- Support staff education in trauma-informed care, crisis response, and behavioral managementÂ
- Collaborate across departments to strengthen communication and care coordinationÂ
- Help shape policies, procedures, and best practices
Requirements
Â
Minimum Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in MontanaÂ
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience (psychiatric or pediatric experience preferred)Â
Preferred Qualifications
- BSN strongly preferredÂ
- Previous supervisory or management experienceÂ
- Psychiatric Nursing CertificationÂ
Physical & Clinical Requirements
- Ability to safely perform physical interventions, including protective holds and patient assistsÂ
- Respond effectively to behavioral crises, including aggressive or self-injurious behaviorÂ
- Physically capable of movement-based interventions (lifting, pivoting, stabilizing patients, etc.)
