Main responsibilities:
- Oversee the daily operations and performance of the Meat Department to ensure strong sales, fresh product availability, and compliance with company standards.
- Lead, schedule, train, and supervise meat cutters and meat clerks to support productivity, safety, and customer service excellence.
- Deliver high-quality customer service, including fulfilling special orders and providing customized meat cuts to meet customer needs.
- Ensure food safety, sanitation, and regulatory compliance through proper handling, temperature monitoring, culling, and inspection of meat products.
- Manage inventory by ordering product, checking deliveries for accuracy and quality, conducting monthly inventories, and maintaining accurate records.
- Execute merchandising programs, pricing integrity, markdowns, and attractive meat displays in alignment with division guidelines.
- Review operational and performance reports to identify opportunities for improvement and drive department success.
- Safely operate and oversee the use of meat-processing equipment such as saws, grinders, tenderizers, and knives.

- Knowledge of various cuts of meat and meat preparation techniques
- Understanding of food safety practices and sanitation standards
- Familiarity with retail inventory control and pricing practices
- Working knowledge of store systems and basic computer applications
Abilities:
- Ability to safely operate meat-processing equipment, including saws, grinders, and knives
- Ability to multitask and prioritize in a high-volume environment
- Ability to read, understand, and follow company policies, procedures, and guidelines
- Physical ability to stand and walk for extended periods and lift up to 35 lbs regularly
Other requirements:Â
- Flexibility to work a varied schedule, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays
- Commitment to workplace conduct standards and company grooming and uniform policies
- Willingness to maintain regular and predictable attendance
- Ability to work in a temperature-controlled store with occasional exposure to varying temperatures

Pay Transparency:
Starting rates will be no less than the local minimum wage and may vary based on things like location, experience, qualifications, and the terms of any applicable collective bargaining agreement. Candidates with unique qualifications may be considered for compensation above this range. Dependent on length of service, hours worked, any applicable collective bargaining agreement and/or Company policy, benefits may include medical, dental, vision, disability and life insurance, sick pay*, PTO/Vacation pay*, paid holidays*, bereavement pay and retirement benefits (pension and/or 401(k) eligibility).
