JOB SUMMARY: Under the direction of the Director of Pharmacy, the Pharmacy Technician is responsible for assisting pharmacist(s) in providing safe and effective medication therapy to patients. KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE: Knowledge of pharmacy dispensing systems including unit dose, IV admixture, and outpatient prescription processing. Knowledge of basic differences in drug therapy in different patient age groups from neonates to geriatric patients. Knowledge of systems of measurement (e.g. metric system) and ability to perform basic mathematical calculations and conversions within and between systems of measurement. Knowledge about aseptic technique in the compounding of IV admixtures if required in practice location. Knowledge of drug nomenclature including brand and generic names. Knowledge of pharmacy law and activities allowed and not allowed by law. Knowledge and experience in the use of a computer and keyboard. Experience with Windows programs, use of e-mail and use of the internet. EDUCATION: High school diploma or GED required. LICENSE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRY: Must be licensed as a pharmacy technician in good standing in the State of Montana
