SHIFT: Nights, 12 hours (0.9 FTE)

JOB SUMMARY (overview of job):  This position demonstrates knowledge of the nursing process as a standard, incorporating elements of holistic family centered care through the collection, verification and organization of data about a patient’s health status, planning for care, implementation of the plan and evaluation. The Registered Nurse (RN) provides direct patient care in the clinical setting under the direction of the Director or designee, and the Charge Nurse. The RN performs detailed and accurate assessments of patients and completes documentation in a timely and accurate manner according to hospital policy and regulatory requirements. This position facilitates patient hand-offs and provides assistance to move the patient through the care continuum. The RN works collaboratively with other members of the healthcare team, co-workers, physicians, and the community emphasizing a teamwork environment. 
   
KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE:  Sufficient experience required to demonstrate ability to accept responsibility as a staff RN (job specific).

EDUCATION: Graduate of accredited professional school of nursing required. Nurses involved in the care of orthopedic and spine patients must adhere to defined educational and competency requirements in compliance with DNV Orthopedic and Spine certification.  Nurses providing care to orthopedic and spine patients must complete specialty-specific education and validate competency annually.  Nurses are expected to participate in continuing education activities relevant to orthopedic and spine care, including updates on clinical guidelines, emerging technologies, and best practices.  Educational areas may include, but are not limited to:
•    Musculoskeletal system anatomy and physiology
•    ERAS                                                                                                                                                     
•    Pain management strategies
•    Mobility and safety
•    Prevention of complications such as deep vein thrombosis (DVT), infection, and pressure injuries
•    Glucose management
•    Compartment syndrome

LICENSE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRY: Current Montana License as a Registered Nurse required. BLS certification required.  Certification in Medical-Surgical Nursing or Geriatric Nursing preferred.
