We are excited to explore the possibility of expanding electives and strengthening our programming for the 2026-2027 school year. We invite passionate and innovative educators with certifications in ELA, Social Studies, and/or other relevant fields to apply. In addition, we are eager to consider the development of a high school choir program, providing students with meaningful avenues for creative expression. Required Qualifications:
- Valid Michigan teaching certificate with a certification in English (BA) and/or (RX) Social Studies
- Meet requirements for a background check and fingerprinting.
- Alternative applicable qualifications may be considered.
- Special consideration is given to candidates with additional certifications.
Job Requirements, Knowledge, and Skills:
- Successful experience working with secondary-age students.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Knowledge of content expectations/standards pertinent to the grade level.
- Knowledge of best practices in classroom instruction and technology integration.
- Experience working as part of a collaborative team.
- Willingness to accept and perform additional administrative responsibilities as assigned.
- Ideal candidates would be able to teach electives in addition to core courses, preferably in fine arts, choir, or other areas that align with Hemlock’s vision and mission.
A successful candidate will be able to:
- Build strong relationships with students and deliver instruction using research-based strategies across whole-group, small-group, and individualized settings.
- Plan and implement high-quality lessons that align with state standards and integrate best practices such as explicit instruction, checks for understanding, and differentiated supports to promote achievement in all core content areas.
- Use a variety of formative and summative assessment tools to monitor student progress, inform instructional decisions, and provide timely, targeted feedback.
- Establish a structured, respectful classroom environment by consistently applying proactive classroom management techniques, restorative practices, and positive behavior supports.
- Actively engage in professional learning communities to analyze student data, co-plan lessons, and reflect on instructional practices.
- Collaborate with colleagues, support staff, and families to foster a culture of academic excellence and a positive school climate.
Salary: As per negotiated district contract.
