global culture. The Carrier Supervisor / Manager at McLane Global is responsible for sourcing,
negotiating, and managing relationships with transportation carriers (truckload, LTL,
intermodal, temperature control, etc.) ensuring competitive pricing, reliable capacity, and high
service performance.
Key Responsibilities
Performance Management
β Set goals and monitor KPIs for carrier network growth, lane coverage, margin, and on-time
performance
β Conduct quarterly business reviews (QBRs) with each carrier to evaluate performance and
service trends
β Resolve escalated carrier or service issues
Carrier Sourcing & Contracting
β Source, qualify, and onboard new asset-based carriers to reduce reliance on the brokered
network
β Execute broker/carrier agreements and manage onboarding documentation (insurance,
authority, W-9, safety packet)
β Negotiate and establish base rates, fuel surcharges, and accessorial schedules by lane
β Build long-term, direct carrier partnerships to improve service and cost control
Operational Oversight
β Ensure onboarded carriers are load-ready across required systems (TMS, rate tables,
compliance tracking)
β Monitor ongoing carrier compliance (insurance, safety ratings, authority, CSA scores)
β Collaborate with sales and operations to align lane rates with customer commitments
β Track freight market trends and adjust rate strategy to protect margin
β Bachelor's degree in Business, Logistics, Supply Chain, or related field (preferred)
β 3β6+ years of experience in carrier sales, carrier management, or freight brokerage
β Experience in managed transportation, overseeing contracted carrier relationships
governed by set rate schedules (base, fuel surcharge, accessorials)
β Demonstrated ability to build processes from the ground up in a leaner, less techsupported environment
β Experience negotiating and onboarding asset-based carriers (preferred)
β Strong negotiation, relationship-building, and communication skills
β Working knowledge of TMS platforms and freight market/rate dynamics
