Purchasing Agent

SUMMARY:

Reporting to the Director of Supply Chain, the Purchasing Agent is responsible for ensuring that our organization has access to the materials and supplies needed to support our operations. The Purchasing Agent will be responsible for researching, negotiating, and purchasing a variety of materials and supplies, and ensuring that all purchases are made in a timely and cost-effective manner.

 KEY RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:  

• Researches potential vendors and suppliers in order to secure competitive pricing and services 
• Negotiates contracts with vendors and suppliers to ensure favorable terms 
• Seeks out potential new vendors and suppliers 
• Places orders with vendors and suppliers 
• Tracks and monitors the delivery of orders and invoices 
• Monitors material planning through our ERP
• Manages relationships with vendors and suppliers 
• Monitors vendor performance and ensures adherence to contractual agreements 
• Maintains accurate records of purchases, pricing, and invoices 
• Addresses and resolves any issues or disputes with vendors 
• Identifies and sources electronic components such as resistors, capacitors, ICs, connectors, and other PCBA materials from a network of reliable suppliers.
• Collaborates with the quality assurance team to ensure components meet required specifications and standards.
• Performs other duties outside their scope of work as assigned and required

 QUALIFICATIONS & COMPENTENCIES:

• Bachelor's degree in business or related field preferred
• Proven experience as a purchasing agent or in a similar role 
• Knowledge of market research, data analysis, and inventory control 
• Understanding of supply chain procedures 
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills 
• Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities 
• Ability to work under pressure and within tight deadlines 
• Ability to manage vendor relationships 
• Proficiency in MS Office and an ERP system 
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team 
• Ability to evaluate vendors and products 
• Working knowledge of purchasing regulations and procedures
• Must be able to read, write and speak/understand English fluently

WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

This role is conducted in an office environment requiring some or all the following:

• Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk or workstation
• Repetitive hand and arm movements 
• Occasional lifting up to 20lbs may be required
• Frequent reaching, grasping, pushing or pulling, bending or twisting motions
• Walking short distances and standing for meetings or other office activities
