Opto-Mechanical Lead Engineer, Navitar, Inc., Rochester, NY:  Perform opto-mechanical development work for plan, design and assembly of complex optical projection and digital imaging systems in video microscopy and semiconductor fields. Use project management tools to guide projects from design ideation to field deployment. Work with engineering manager to develop and guide junior staff.  Lead teams in Product Development for projection and digital imaging systems. Perform opto-mechanical design from preparing models and manufacturing documentation to supporting prototype assembly and testing. Support leadership to develop team capabilities in optical, electrical and mechanical design.  Requirements:  Master’s in Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering and 6 years industrial experience creating detailed GD&T drawings with vendors for optical assemblies, including the following:  CAD software;  engineering design theories and principles for geometrical optics and optical tolerances; project management for electro-optical systems, working with product development stages; assembly of precision optics for stacked and drop-in assemblies, use of optical adhesives and alignment tools, proper cleaning of glass and metal; testing lens assemblies using Christie, Panasonic and Sony projectors, Zygo interferometer, laser alignment systems, Trioptics ImageMaster HR and Optikos OP MTF lens evaluation systems and identifying testing needs to spec out new test equipment; and creating and executing DOE and Regression analysis tests on Minitab.  Ref: HK.
