Position Summary:
The Quality Control Lead is responsible for overseeing all quality assurance and quality control activities within a custom vehicle manufacturing environment. This role ensures that vehicles are built in accordance with engineering specifications, customer requirements, regulatory standards, and company quality expectations. The Quality Control Lead works closely with Production, Engineering, Purchasing, and Service teams to identify quality issues, implement corrective actions, and drive continuous improvement initiatives throughout the manufacturing process.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Quality Oversight
- Lead and coordinate quality control activities throughout the vehicle manufacturing process.
- Perform and oversee inspections of fabricated components, assemblies, electrical systems, hydraulic systems, and completed vehicles.
- Conduct final vehicle inspections and sign-off prior to shipment.
- Develop, implement, and maintain quality inspection procedures and checklists.
- Ensure adherence to company quality standards, safety regulations, and applicable industry requirements.
Problem Resolution
- Investigate quality defects, customer complaints, and non-conformances.
- Perform root cause analysis and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
- Collaborate with production supervisors and engineering teams to resolve quality issues efficiently.
- Track quality metrics and monitor the effectiveness of corrective actions.
Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain accurate inspection records, quality reports, and non-conformance documentation.
- Ensure quality documentation is complete and properly retained.
Experience
- 5+ years of experience in a similar role, preferably within the automotive, fleet services, or vehicle upfitting industry.
- Strong understanding of the industry, vehicle upfitting processes, tools, materials, and best practices in a production environment.
- A strategic mindset to drive growth and operational excellence.
- Ability to handle unexpected challenges and quickly find solutions.
- Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficient in business software tools (Microsoft Office, ERP systems)
Education
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Operations Management, Automotive Technology, or related field preferred.
Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand. The employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
Work Environment
The noise level in the work environment is typically moderate.
Compensation
Paid Weekly.
Schedule
May involve extended hours depending on business needs. Monday through Friday.
