Position SummaryĀ
We areĀ seekingĀ a detail-oriented and clinically knowledgeable Operatory SurgicalĀ Coding SpecialistĀ to join our Operatory team. In this role, you will ensureĀ accurateĀ posting of surgical cases, proper billing of supplies and implants, and correct CPT/HCPCS coding in collaboration with surgeons, clinical staff, and the Operatory Director.Ā

This position plays a critical role inĀ optimizingĀ reimbursement, preventing charge leakage,Ā maintainingĀ compliance, and ensuringĀ accurateĀ documentation for all office-based surgical procedures.Ā

Key ResponsibilitiesĀ
Surgical Coding & Charge CaptureĀ
AccuratelyĀ post-surgicalĀ cases usingĀ appropriateĀ CPT, HCPCS, and modifier coding.Ā
Review operative documentation to ensure coding accuracy and completeness.Ā
Partner directly with surgeons toĀ validateĀ procedures performed and confirm surgical assistant billing requirements.Ā
IdentifyĀ and resolve coding discrepancies or missing documentation prior to claim submission.Ā
Ā
Supply & Implant ReconciliationĀ
Reconcile cut sheets, purchase orders, bill-only documentation, and operative records.Ā
Verify surgical supply and implantĀ utilizationĀ forĀ accurateĀ charge capture.Ā
Collaborate with Supply Chain and clinical teams to ensure proper inventory and implant tracking.Ā
Support implant andĀ consignmentĀ billing processes to maximize reimbursement.Ā
Revenue Integrity & ComplianceĀ
Audit surgical cases toĀ identifyĀ opportunities for improved reimbursement and charge capture.Ā
Minimize revenue leakage throughĀ accurateĀ documentation and coding practices.Ā
Maintain compliance with coding, billing, and regulatory requirements.Ā
EnsureĀ accurateĀ andĀ timelyĀ documentation within the EHR and inventory management systems.Ā

Experience working in a surgical environment, including an ASC, hospital operating room, or office-based operatory.Ā
Strong understanding of surgical workflows, instrumentation, implants, and supplies.Ā
Working knowledge of CPT/HCPCS coding principles and surgical documentation requirements.Ā

Must haveĀ previousĀ experience in OrthopedicsĀ
Certified Professional Coder (CPC), CCS-P, CRC, or similar codingĀ credentials.Ā
Working knowledge of CPT, HCPCS, and modifier coding.Ā

Experience in a surgical environment (ASC, hospital OR, or office-based operatory).Ā
Strong understanding of surgical workflows, supplies, implants, and instrumentation.Ā

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.Ā
Experience working within an electronic health record (EHR) system.Ā

Compensation Range for this position:
$27.87 - $41.80Compensation for this role will be based on several factors, including the candidate's qualifications, relevant experience, education, skills, certifications, geography/market, and internal equity considerations.
