AWS Specialist Engineering is seeking an experienced Software Development Manager to lead a team of 8 engineers in developing and implementing AI-powered tools and agentic SDLC practices. This role combines people leadership, product strategy, and technical vision to transform how our organization builds software. You will own the end-to-end strategy for AI tool development, drive adoption across teams, and establish best practices that will scale beyond AWS Specialist Engineering. The ideal candidate brings strong engineering management experience, a passion for AI/ML technologies, and the ability to influence and educate stakeholders across a large organization.

A day in the life
As a Software Development Manager in AWS Specialist Engineering, you will lead a team of 8 engineers developing AI tools and processes that enhance software development practices across the organization. You will own the product and technical strategy for implementing an agentic Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), working at the intersection of AI/ML innovation and practical engineering excellence.

Your team will build tools that empower engineers to work more efficiently, make better decisions, and deliver higher-quality solutions. You'll collaborate with stakeholders across AWS Specialist Engineering to understand their needs, identify opportunities for AI-driven improvements, and ensure successful adoption of new tools and practices.

In this role, you will:
- Define and execute the product roadmap for AI-powered development tools
- Build and mentor a high-performing engineering team
- Drive technical architecture decisions and ensure scalable, reliable solutions

Basic Qualifications: - 3+ years of engineering team management experience
- 7+ years of engineering experience
- 1+ years of providing technical leadership and project management for all aspects of the software development lifecycle experience
- Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field
- Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and livesite operations Preferred Qualifications: - Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior leadership to collect requirements, describe software product features, technical designs, and product strategy
- Experience in recruiting, hiring, mentoring/coaching and managing teams of Software Engineers to improve their skills, and make them more effective, product software engineers

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
