Medical Lab Assistant/Certified - Midnights

Position Summary

• Responsible for receiving, processing, and performing limited testing of patient specimens for diagnostic testing.

Principal Accountabilities

• Standards of Performance:  Respect, Integrity, Compassion, Collaboration, Stewardship, Accountability, Quality

Education

• High School diploma or equivalent required
• Associate Degree in a science related field preferred

Licenses and Certification

• MLA-ASCP preferred

Experience and Skills

• Technical Experience:  3 year in a lab setting preferred

Physical Activities

• Intermittent hand manipulation required.
• Intermittent lifting and carrying of 20 pounds which can be modified.
• Ability to be mobile throughout the laboratory.

Role Specific Responsibilities

• Receive and accession specimens.
• Prepare samples for testing and send out to reference laboratories
• Maintain laboratory equipment and stock supplies.
• Perform limited waived testing.
• Work under direct supervision of certified lab professionals.
• Prepare microbiology specimens, including Gram stains and rapid testing.
• Act as a liaison between lab staff and external departments.
• Participate in lab troubleshooting processes.
