Responsible for providing professional nursing care for SIH patients. Education required includes Associate, Diploma, Bachelor’s degree or Master’s in Nursing. Licenses and certifications required are Current Illinois Registered Nurse license, Current CPR/BLS Card, and ACLS within 6 months of hire. The role involves assessing patients to determine mental, physical, and spiritual needs; establishing a compassionate environment to provide emotional, psychological, and spiritual support to patients and families; assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating individual plans of care in collaboration with the multidisciplinary health care team; providing health teaching and counseling to promote, attain, and maintain optimum health levels; using clinical judgement and critical thinking to recognize, act upon, and report changes in patient condition; completing accurate and timely documentation in patient medical records; providing input into policy and procedure development to support patient safety and quality of care; supervising and delegating responsibilities to licensed practical nurses and/or unlicensed assistant personnel; serving as an advocate for patients by communicating and collaborating with other health service professionals; timely completion of required education, competencies, and licensure; and floating to other SIH nursing units within competency level.
