We are seeking a dynamic, detail-oriented, and experienced Junior Accountant to join our accounting team in the construction industry. This is a permanent position that will play an important role in supporting the company’s financial operations. This position reports directly to the Accounting Manager and will work closely with the Accountant I and other members of the accounting and operations teams.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare and maintain accurate accounting records and supporting documentation.
- Prepare and reconcile financial accounts, including bank, balance sheet, and general ledger accounts.
- Prepare routine journal entries and supporting schedules.
- Assist with accounts payable and accounts receivable activities.
- Assist with accruals, prepaids, and other routine accounting functions.
- Identify, research, and resolve routine discrepancies and variances, escalating issues requiring additional analysis or accounting judgment.
- Prepare accurate and timely productivity and financial reports.
- Assist with month-end close activities and ensure assigned tasks are completed accurately and within established deadlines.
- Support audit activities by gathering documentation and preparing requested schedules.
- Collaborate closely with the Accountant I and Accounting Manager to ensure the accuracy and completeness of financial information.
- Provide cross-functional and accounting support as needed and progressively take ownership of assigned accounting responsibilities.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field required.
- Minimum of three years of progressive accounting experience, including accounts payable and accounts receivable; experience in the construction or manufacturing industry preferred.
- Working knowledge of account reconciliation processes and general ledger accounting.
- Understanding of GAAP and fundamental accounting principles and practices.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including the ability to organize, analyze, and report financial data.
- Experience working with multiple entities preferred.
- Experience with the Epicor Kinetic accounting system is a plus.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to research discrepancies and identify appropriate solutions.
- Excellent attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to prioritize multiple assignments, meet deadlines, and work effectively within a team environment.
