The hours are 10:00am - 6:30pm but they can be flexible depending on availability and needs.  Position Overview: The primary responsibility of the Baker is to prepare the highest quality baked goods, including breads, cakes, pastries, pies and cupcakes. The Baker will use their culinary expertise to mix together ingredients to create unique and delicious items for our customers.  Essential Job Functions: Prepare doughs, fillings, batters, icings and other components by measuring or weighing ingredients. Use tools such as hand mixers, electric mixers and cooking machinery to blend together ingredients to create high-quality baked goods. Decorate cakes, pastries and other baked goods, including custom-made decorations for birthdays and other celebrations. Remain alert to all team members and helps team out when needed. Consult daily order sheets to determine which bakery items will be prepared for the day. Follows Food Code standards for preparing, handling, serving and storing food Check and record temperatures of food to ensure that it is held at correct temperatures. Prepare, cook and store food under appropriate temperatures and with safe food handling techniques. Uses food and supplies appropriately to maintain budget Understand and adhere to all Bluestem Bakery recipes. Avoid wasting food or supplies. Cleans and sanitizes food preparation areas Help wash dishes and put them away. Complete cleaning schedules. Use good sanitation practices. Keep all kitchen equipment clean and in good working order. Qualifications and Experience: Must be 18 years of age Prefer at least two years of baking experience Must enjoy working with the elderly and be able to understand their needs  Physical Requirements: Medium Work – Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly.
