Employment Type: Full-Time
Position Summary
Buckley Cable Construction is seeking experienced Field Construction Supervisors to oversee commercial telecommunications construction projects throughout the Miami and West Palm Beach markets.
The Field Construction Supervisor is responsible for the day-to-day field execution and scheduling of Metro Ethernet (Metro-E), SMB, fiber, coax, aerial, underground, splicing, and activation-related construction work.
This is a hands-on field leadership position. The supervisor will work closely with Project Managers to ensure technicians, construction crews, and subcontractors are properly scheduled, jobs are completed on committed dates, field issues are resolved quickly, and projects continue moving toward activation and closeout.
A major responsibility of this position is holding field personnel accountable to the construction schedule.
Key Responsibilities
  • Manage the daily field schedule for assigned Metro-E and SMB projects.
  • Assign work to in-house technicians, construction crews, subcontractors, and splicers.
  • Hold technicians and crews accountable to committed construction dates.
  • Develop weekly construction schedules based on project priorities and available resources.
  • Confirm crews have the necessary prints, materials, equipment, permits, access information, and job details before dispatch.
  • Track scheduled versus completed work each day.
  • Identify the reason for any missed construction date and immediately develop a recovery plan.
  • Coordinate aerial, underground, coax, fiber construction, splicing, testing, and activation activities.
  • Conduct field visits to verify job readiness, construction progress, quality, and safety.
  • Identify permitting, access, material, design, utility, or construction obstacles before they impact the schedule.
  • Coordinate with Project Managers regarding job priorities, customer commitments, and field issues.
  • Ensure every active project has a clearly defined next step, responsible party, and scheduled date.
  • Manage subcontractor performance, productivity, quality, and schedule compliance.
  • Monitor aging and overdue projects and develop plans to move stalled work forward.
  • Coordinate restoration and address field-related customer concerns.
  • Ensure construction is completed according to customer specifications and applicable standards.
  • Ensure field documentation, redlines, photos, footage, material information, and completion documentation are submitted promptly.
  • Support As-Built, activation, QC, and closeout personnel by providing accurate field information.
  • Participate in daily production reviews and weekly backlog/scheduling meetings.
  • Escalate jobs that are blocked, overdue, or at risk of missing customer commitments.
  • Maintain professional communication with customers, property representatives, technicians, subcontractors, and Buckley management.
Performance Expectations
Performance will be measured based on:
  • Jobs completed per week
  • Scheduled jobs completed on time
  • Crew and technician productivity
  • Jobs completed versus new jobs assigned
  • Number of overdue projects
  • Job aging
  • Construction cycle time
  • Missed schedule percentage
  • Crew utilization
  • Subcontractor performance
  • Quality and rework
  • Restoration performance
  • Field documentation turnaround
Committed construction dates are expected to be treated as commitments.
When a technician, crew, or subcontractor misses a scheduled project, the Field Construction Supervisor is responsible for determining why the commitment was missed, addressing the issue, and getting the project back on schedule.
Qualifications
  • 3+ years of telecommunications construction experience preferred.
  • Previous experience supervising telecommunications construction crews strongly preferred.
  • Experience with Metro-E, commercial fiber, SMB, HFC, coax, fiber optic construction, or outside plant construction preferred.
