Job Summary
The Final Test Technician Role is responsible for verifying both hardware and software functionality at the end of the manufacturing process. This role is critical to the success of our company’s mission, as it serves as one of the final checkpoints to ensure that products meet quality standards before they are shipped to customers. By identifying and addressing any last-minute issues, this role helps maintain our reputation for delivering reliable, high-quality products.
Essential Functions
The Final Test technician is responsible for performing functionality testing and system stress testing on hardware and software at the end of the manufacturing process.
Key responsibilities include:
- Execute comprehensive test procedures to verify product performance
- Identify and troubleshooting any hardware or software issues
- Set Up and Maintain Test Equipment/assets
- ensuring each unit meets quality and reliability standards before shipment
- Accurately Analyze and document test results, observations, and anomalies
- Support product Development by providing feedback to design teams based on manufacturability and testing outcomes
Scope and Complexity
This role requires a high level of autonomy, with technicians working independently based on a set schedule. Self-motivation and the ability to manage tasks without direct supervision are essential. Technicians make routine decisions related to testing, troubleshooting, and escalating issues when needed. While not a formal leadership role, it requires ownership, accountability, and occasionally mentoring less experienced team members.
Tools, Technology, or Equipment Used
Final Test Technicians routinely use electronic test equipment such as oscilloscopes, multimeters, signal generators, power supplies, and specialized test fixtures.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Knowledge
- Identify common test failures, perform basic diagnostics, and communicate findings clearly
- Reading Schematics and Test Instructions: Can interpret basic wiring diagrams, test procedures, and technical documentation to perform tasks correctly
- Computer and Software Proficiency: Comfortable using test software, Microsoft Excel, and internal systems for tracking and documentation
Skills
- Communicate and collaborate with team members and engineers clearly and professionally
- Prioritize tasks and manage workload efficiently to meet daily schedules
- Accurately record test results, logs defects, and complete reports as required
Abilities
- Ensures accuracy in test setups, data entry, and following procedures to maintain quality standards.
- Basic Electrical Testing: Ability to perform simple voltage, continuity, and resistance checks using standard equipment
Required Qualifications
- Must be a US Person (US Citizen, person granted US Permanent Resident Card or any individual who is granted status as a "protected person”)
- Education requirements: GED/High School Diploma
- Two or more years of hands-on electronics experience
Preferred Qualifications
- IPC certification
Working Conditions
Work is primarily performed in a manufacturing environment with consistent exposure to the manufacturing floor and testing environments. May require lifting up to 25 lbs and standing for extended periods of time.
