About the Role

As a Cook, you will play a vital role in preparing and serving delicious, nutritious meals while ensuring the smooth operation of our kitchen. This includes collaborating with the Director of Dining Services, maintaining cleanliness and sanitation standards, and supporting dietary staff through training and supervision.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the Dietary Department in the absence of the Director or Assistant Director of Dining Services.
  • Prepare meals according to planned menus, ensuring special dietary needs and portion controls are met.
  • Follow standardized recipes and assist in planning special meals or contributing new menu ideas.
  • Train, coach, and supervise dietary personnel to ensure high-quality service.
  • Maintain the cleanliness and sanitation of kitchen facilities, adhering to daily cleaning schedules.
  • Report equipment and supply needs to ensure the kitchen runs efficiently.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent education and experience.
  • Ability to follow recipes and understand special diet orders.
  • Attention to detail and knowledge of food sanitation principles.
  • Cooking experience is required.

Working Conditions

  • Ability to stand, walk, lift, carry, and manipulate food products and equipment throughout the day.
  • Must be able to lift 50 to 75 pounds and work in temperature- and humidity-varied environments.
  • Adherence to personal hygiene standards for Food Service Employees is required.

Schedule and Compensation

This position follows a set schedule with availability required every other weekend. Pay will be discussed during the interview process.
