Collects, decontaminates, stores and distributes all reusable supplies and patient care equipment in the hospital.

COMPANY DESCRIPTION

Frye Regional Medical Center, located in the beautiful foothills of North Carolina is a 355-bed acute care hospital, 81-bed Behavioral Health facility and more than 70 primary and specialty care providers.

Essential Functions

  • Provides inspection, decontamination, assembly, and sterilization of instruments and other patient care equipment in accordance with processing guidelines, AAMI, AORN, TJC, and OSHA requirements.
  • Sets controls to specific time and temperature according to material being sterilized requirements and completes appropriate documentation records. Monitors and performs antimicrobial and disinfection solutions testing according to manufacturer instructions and documentation daily.
  • Assembles all instruments and procedure trays using content list as a guide
  • Packages all items in appropriate wrapper or container
  • Identifies each package appropriately with name of item, initials, and date
  • Distributes sterilized items to appropriate storage area in a timely fashion
  • Practices required standards of safe handling of instruments and supplies

Minimum Education

  • High School diploma or equivalent required

Licenses/Certifications

  •  Central Sterile Tech within 1 year required

Minimum Work Experience

  • Previous healthcare experience preferred
