Job DetailsJob Location: NC- Hickory (2) - Hickory, NC 28601Position Type: Full TimeEducation Level: Technical School CertificationTravel Percentage: More than 50%Job Shift: First ShiftJob Category: TransportationSUMMARY: The Switcher position is responsible for safely and efficiently operator a tractor-trailer or bobtail truck in accordance with state laws.   ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Frequent sitting for extended periods of time. Load/unload or assist in loading/unloading finished product in or from trailer. Inspect load in trailer to ensure it is properly loaded and it is the correct load before leaving. Verify count while truck is being unloaded, as allowed by customers. Transport load by required route to proper destination while observing all traffic laws and safety regulations. Obtain shipping bill of lading and necessary signatures and return completed paperwork to shipping office. Complete daily timecard, driver logs, and all other work reports accurately and in a timely manner. Report any maintenance items to supervision immediately. Be proactive in the maintenance of the truck and trailers. Comply with all company policies and procedures, including safety and maintaining good housekeeping. Duties may be expanded upon and additional duties may be assigned. QualificationsSKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS High School Diploma or GED. CDL Required Minimum of two years experience as a Truck Driver required Minimum of two years experience as a Switcher /Yard Jockey required Extensive knowledge of applicable truck driving rules and regulations   PHYSICAL DEMANDS Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
