Position SummaryÂ
The Phlebotomist/Medical Assistant is responsible for providing high-quality clinical support in an oncology practice setting, including performing venipuncture, assisting providers with patient care, and ensuring an excellent patient experience. This role requires strong clinical skills, attention to detail, and a compassionate approach to working with oncology patients.Â

Key ResponsibilitiesÂ
Clinical & Patient CareÂ
Perform venipuncture and capillary blood collection accurately and efficientlyÂ
Prepare and label specimens for laboratory testing in accordance with established protocolsÂ
Assist providers with patient examinations and proceduresÂ
Obtain and document vital signs, medical history, and patient informationÂ
Administer injections and medications as permitted by certification and state guidelinesÂ
Ensure exam rooms are prepared, stocked, and sanitized between patient visitsÂ
Laboratory & DocumentationÂ
Process laboratory specimens and ensure timely transport or shipmentÂ
Maintain accurate and complete documentation in the electronic medical record (EMR)Â
Follow all safety, infection control, and HIPAA regulationsÂ
Monitor and maintain inventory of clinical and lab suppliesÂ
Patient Experience & CoordinationÂ
Provide compassionate care and emotional support to oncology patientsÂ
Educate patients on procedures and follow-up instructions as directedÂ
Assist with patient flow to ensure efficient clinic operationsÂ
Collaborate with clinical and administrative staff to support patient care plansÂ

QualificationsÂ
Education & CertificationÂ
High school diploma or equivalent requiredÂ
Certification as a Phlebotomy Technician (CPT) and/or Medical Assistant (CMA/RMA) preferredÂ
ExperienceÂ
Minimum of 1–2 years of experience in a clinical setting preferred Â
Oncology or specialty practice experience a plusÂ
Â
Knowledge, Skills, & AbilitiesÂ
Proficiency in venipuncture and specimen handlingÂ
Strong attention to detail and accuracyÂ
Excellent interpersonal and communication skillsÂ
Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environmentÂ
Comfort working with patients undergoing cancer treatmentÂ
Basic computer skills and familiarity with EMR systemsÂ
