Summary of Performance Expectations:

 
Provides professional nursing care and makes nursing care decisions that are appropriate for the age and condition of the patient, using the nursing process. Collaborates with other health care professionals to meet the needs of the patient. Responsible for adhering to CVMC/ departmental policies, procedures, and philosophy to deliver quality patient care, practicing within the guidelines of the North Carolina State Nurse Practice Act and abiding by the CVMC Nursing Bylaws.
 

 
Education & Credentials: 
 

 
Required
  • Graduate of accredited nursing program.
  • Current NC RN license or licensure from Nursing Compact State.
  • BCLS certification. If the BCLS certification is not from the American Heart Association (AHA), an AHA certification is required within three months of employment date.
Bachelor of Science in Nursing Degree Requirements

 
Newly employed IRT Registered Nurses and current employees promoted to IRT Registered Nurse positions are required to possess a BSN or higher nursing degree.
  • The BSN or higher nursing degree must be completed within five years from the date of employment or placement into the IRT RN position.
  • Effective August 28, 2017, incumbents in CVMC IRT RN positions on the effective date will be required to satisfy the BSN degree requirement to maintain their current position.

Additional Requirements by Practice Area


 
The IRT Registered Nurse will float to the assigned units and take an independent assignment. Competency requirements will include all annual education and certifications required by each assigned individual unit to maintain competencies. Refer to the Registered Nurse Performance Expectations for each department’s additional requirements by Practice Area.
 

 
Preferred

 
BSN (BSN enrollment and completion requirements apply). Specialty course work and certification in multiple areas of practice

 

Work Experience: 
 


 
Required

 
One year nursing experience. Incumbent should be proficient in the basic aspects of the job and able to assume call responsibilities as required within three months of employment date.
CCU experience 
 
Preferred

 
One year experience working in Critical Care.  
Six months experience in cardiac monitoring. 
One year experience in either Birthing Center or Level III Nursery.
