ASSISTANT SUPERINTENDENT
JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY
The basic function of the Assistant Superintendent is to assist with coordinating and supervising craft employee activities. Â The Assistant Superintendent reports to and is directly accountable to the Superintendent.
REQUIREMENTS
Education
•    Required:  High School Diploma or equivalent.
•    Preferred:  High School Diploma or equivalent plus formal journeyman carpentry training and/or supervisory training courses.
Experience
•    Required:  5 years construction experience or 2 years experience with 4-year degree.
•    Preferred:  Degree in Construction Management or Civil Engineering.
Skills / Knowledge / Abilities
•    Excellent communication and organizational skills
•    In-depth understanding of construction operations and processes.
•    Thorough knowledge of all safety requirements.
•    The ability to motivate employees and handle different situations.
Physical Requirements
•    Must be able to see well (either naturally or with correction).
•    Coordinate the movements of eyes, hands, and fingers with full use of hands, arms and fingers.
•    Climb and maintain balance on ladders and scaffolding.
•    Stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl or work at any height.
•    Lift and carry objects weighting up to 50 pounds and occasionally more.
•    Must be able to work under stressful deadline situations.
•    Must be able to communicate in English, verbally and in writing.
•    Must be able to comprehend business math and interpret data from various sources.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
•    Assist with supervision of craft personnel to ensure project is constructed by design, within budget and on schedule.
•    Assist in planning work schedule, determining manpower levels, material quantities, equipment requirements, etc.
•    Monitor personnel for compliance with safety and working procedures.
•    Advise Superintendent of all potential problems and assist in problem solving.
•    Perform additional assignments as required.
