Summary of Performance Expectations
Performs radiation therapy and radiographic procedures involving the application of x-rays and radioactive materials to patients for treatment purposes, under the clinical supervision of a Radiation Oncologist and Medical Physicist. Properly positions patients using both external markers and internal anatomy to ensure accurate treatment of prescribed radiation dose. Operates and maintains specialized equipment. Prepares and maintains patient records and reports.
Education and Credentials:
Required:
Graduate of an accredited program for Radiation Therapists. Registered. ARRT in Radiation Therapy or registry eligible. BCLS certification. If the BCLS certification is not from the American Heart Association (AHA), an AHA certification is required within one month of employment date.
Preferred:
Bachelor’s degree.
Work Experience:
Required:
One or more years of radiation therapy experience. May consider bachelor’s degree in lieu of one year work experience. Given training and on-the-job experience, incumbent should be proficient in the basic aspects of the job within three months of employment date.
