The Department of Music is housed in the dynamic School of Arts and Design at High Point University. The department is searching for a Visiting Assistant Professor for the 2026-2027 academic year. The department offers a BA in Music and collaborates closely with the Department of Theater and Dance to deliver a musical theater minor. QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED: 

  • PhD or DMA in voice performance or equivalent degree 
  • Experience teaching at the college/university level 
  • Be a good communicator, collaborator and team player who can thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced, extraordinary environment 

 

QUALIFICATIONS PREFERRED BUT NOT REQUIRED: 

  • Experience directing Musical Theater
  • Expertise in Italian, Latin, English, German, and French diction for singers
  • Expertise in vocal pedagogy

 

RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Teach undergraduate studio voice lessons to voice majors, minors, and non-majors
  • Serve as director of vocal division and help give guidance to adjunct voice faculty
  • Participate in departmental and university service, with special focus on recruitment  
  • Participate in innovative teaching and curriculum development and assessment
