General Description 

It is the responsibility of the Center Resource Partner to assist the teacher to plan, organize and direct the operation of programs for a specific group of children providing a high-quality environment in which each child achieves the highest level of social, emotional, physical, and intellectual competence

Essential Duties and Responsibilities 

A.Curriculum

  • Assistin organizing and using space, materials, and routines to construct an interesting, secure, and enjoyable environment that encourages play, exploration, and learning.
  • Assistin developing and implementing an integrated program of activities, experiences and opportunities which contribute to the growth and development of each child and areappropriate tothe developmental levels of the children being served.
  • Use available community resources and age-appropriate activities to enrich the children's experience in theclassroom.
  • Ensure that the classroom respects and reflects the diverse backgrounds and learning styles of each child.
  • Assistin creating andmaintainingan environmentappropriate forchildren in adherence to HSPS, CLASS, NCPK, NAEYC.
  • Perform any other job-related tasks as assigned, which may include bus monitoring and kitchen duties(in compliance with CACFP).

B.Teacher-Child Interaction

  • Maintain effective communication with children thatfostersphysical, social, emotional, and intellectual development.
  • Use questioning,probingand problem solving as interactions which promote learning.
  •  Interact with children at their eye level using a voice which is pleasant and encouraging.
  • Assistin providing opportunities for children to understand,acquireand use verbal and non-verbal means of communicating thoughts and feelings.
  • Assistin providing opportunities for children individually or insmall and large groups.
  • Use conflict resolution techniques which areappropriate forthe developmental level of the child.
  • Provideforsmooth transition from one activity to another activity without requiring the children to wait.
  • Actively engage in procedures to ensure all children are properly supervised.Ensure that Face to Name Transition Formsarecompleted with accuracy.
  • Ensure that Zoning ishappeningboth indoor and outdoor learning environments.
  • Ensure that the 6 Active Supervision Strategies are adhered to: Set up the Environment, Position Staff, Scan and Count, Listen,AnticipateChildren’s Behavior, and Engage and Redirect
  • Support classroom environment by providing individualized care for children, including positive behavioral supports, and engagewholly inclassroom activities and transitions to ensure the safety and supervision of all children in the learning environment.
  • Assistchildren with self-help activities.
  • Develop and implement an integrated program of activities, experiences and opportunities whichcontributesto the growth and development of each child and areappropriate tothe developmental levels of the children being served.
  • Maintain daily activities with children to include changing diapers, feeding, playing,readingand daily cleaning.
  • Assistwith plans and procedures for meeting individual needs of children in the group andassistin all tasks related to the activities of the children. 
  • Bus monitoring duties as assigned. The bus monitoris responsible forproviding support to the students during the transport, loading, and unloading of the school bus to ensure the safety of all passengers.

C. Adult-Adult Interaction

  • Establish andmaintaincooperative relationships with co-workers through open communication, sharingresourcesand supporting professional development.
  • Develop supportive relationships with parents by respecting their child-rearing values and by sharing information about the ages and stages of children's development to improve their understanding of their own children.
  • Maintain a cooperative atmosphere in the workplace byexhibitinga pleasant and cooperative attitude.
  • Assist the Teacher of any group as assigned by the Center Director 

 

D.Parent Involvement

  • Communicate the activities of the program to parents on a regular basis, forexamplethe newsletter and activity calendars.
  • Assistin conducting and documenting parent conferences and/or home visits as needed orrequired.
  • Communicate withparentsthe expectation of and opportunities for their positive involvement in the program.
  • Maintain a professional relationship with parents.
  • Attend center activities, and center staff meetings as requested 

E. Program Management

  • Maintain a clean and organized learning environment.
  • Use all available resources to ensure an effective operation of thelearning environment.
  • Immediately report all cases of suspected child abuse or neglect to the Center Director.
  • Write andsubmitappropriate reportsaccurately and on time.
  • Request supplies and equipment when needed and according to procedure.
  • Assistinmaintainingan orderly classroom.
  • Report allincidentsimmediatelyto the supervisor.
  • Attending all required meetings and training opportunities.

F.Professionalism

  • When implementing strategies for meeting the goals of the program, make decisions based on knowledge of child development theories andappropriate practices, including CLASS,NAEYCand NCPK.
  • Abide by the NAEYC Code of Ethics.
  • Continuously assess skills and knowledge and in conjunction with the Center Director, plan strategies for improvement and growth.

Essential Qualifications 

  • Minimum: Must have completed high schoolor GEDand provide proof of diploma. 
  • Participation in thesubsequentCDA cohort following the start date is mandatory. Completion within the specified dates as outlined in the Professional Development Plan (PDP) is requisite.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with supervisors, children, parents, and volunteers.
  • Demonstrated ability to adjust to working with different age groups of children.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform effectively the dutiesrequiredfor the job including verbal ability to communicate, auditory capacity to respond to children and adults, visual ability to complete written assignments and physical ability to complete assignments given accommodations as required by law.

Physical, Mental and/or Visual Demands

  • Must be able to sit and stand for extended periods of time throughout the day.
  • Must be able tolift upto 35 lbs.
  • Must be able to bend and stoop.
  • Must be able to walk extended periods throughout thedaymonitoring.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed to weather conditions prevalent at the time.   
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. 
  • Specific vision abilities required by the job include close, distance, color, peripheraldepthand the ability to adjust focus.
