Director of Facilities Management

We are seeking an experienced Director of Facilities Management to oversee the maintenance, safety, and operational excellence of our vibrant senior living campus, including residential living, assisted living, and healthcare services.

In this critical leadership role, you will ensure our residents, team members, and visitors enjoy a safe, comfortable, and well-maintained environment every day. If you have a strong technical background, exceptional leadership skills, and a passion for serving seniors, we'd love to hear from you.

What You'll Do

As Director of Facilities Management, you will provide strategic direction and daily oversight of all maintenance, safety, and facility operations.

Key Responsibilities

āœ… Lead and administer a comprehensive preventive maintenance program for campus buildings, systems, and equipment.

āœ… Oversee day-to-day maintenance, construction projects, utility systems, and campus infrastructure.

āœ… Supervise and mentor maintenance team members, providing guidance, training, support, and performance management.

āœ… Partner with campus leadership and department managers to ensure safe, efficient, and uninterrupted operations.

āœ… Chair the campus Safety Committee and oversee Environmental Services initiatives.

āœ… Assist with recruiting, interviewing, hiring, onboarding, and developing departmental staff.

āœ… Collaborate with the Executive Director to develop departmental budgets and operational plans.

āœ… Schedule staff coverage and manage 24/7 on-call maintenance support to meet campus needs.

āœ… Analyze maintenance costs, prioritize repairs, and implement efficient operational practices.

āœ… Direct campus safety, fire prevention, security, emergency preparedness, and civil defense programs.

āœ… Participate in Infection Prevention and Control initiatives in accordance with healthcare regulations.

āœ… Prepare apartment and resident living spaces for occupancy, including necessary repairs, renovations, and refurbishments.

āœ… Ensure all residential, assisted living, healthcare, and common areas are maintained to the highest standards.

What We're Looking For

Education & Technical Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, or related field) preferred.
  • Specialized training in business management, facilities management, or equivalent experience preferred.
  • Current certifications in HVAC, electrical, plumbing, construction, or related trades are highly desirable.

Experience

  • 3-5 years of progressive facilities or maintenance leadership experience.
  • Previous experience in a senior living community, long-term care, healthcare, assisted living, or similar environment strongly preferred.
  • Working knowledge of:
    • NC Life Safety regulations
    • OSHA standards
    • State and federal regulations for long-term care and assisted living
    • Local fire and safety codes
  • Previous supervisory and team leadership experience required.
