The successful candidate will teach a variety of courses within the Mechanical Engineering and Mechatronics programs. Additional expectations include academic advising, supporting undergraduate research, assisting the department with ABET accreditation, and serving on college and university-wide committees. Faculty appointments are for a nine-month contract period with a normal teaching load of 12 credit hours per semester.
Qualifications
Education
Candidates must have an earned Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering, or a closely related field like Aerospace, Manufacturing, or Materials Science. Industry experience is also desirable.
Knowledge, Skills, Ability:
The successful candidate should have demonstrated promise of excellence in teaching, a record of scholarly achievement, an entrepreneurial spirit and an interest in working with highly motivated undergraduate students. The success of our undergraduate students is our primary focus.
Responsibilities
- Teach 12 contact hours (typically 2 – 3 classes) per semester
- Advise and mentor students
- Produce scholarly research or creative activity, especially in partnership with undergraduate students
- Assist with curriculum development and ABET Accreditation
- Assist with university recruiting efforts
- Participate in department, college, and university meetings and committees
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Department Chair and/or Dean
