The Research and Scholarly Support Librarian serves as a strategic partner to graduate programs and faculty, advancing the University’s research, scholarly visibility, and long-term knowledge preservation. This position provides high-level research support to faculty and graduate students, including specialized bibliographic instruction, research consultation, digital portfolio guidance, and co-authorship support.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education

  • A Master’s degree in Library and Information Science (MLIS or equivalent) from an ALA- accredited institution.
  • An undergraduate degree or work experience in Health Science or related disciplines.

Experience, Knowledge, & Training

  • Experience and demonstrated knowledge of medical and health sciences resources, databases, and research methodologies, preferably in an academic library setting.
  • Strong commitment to user-centered service, with the ability to work collaboratively with faculty, students, and colleagues.
  • Experience with or knowledge of information literacy instruction, including instructional design and assessment.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a dynamic academic environment

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Serve as a research ally to graduate programs (e.g., DMS, EdD, OD) by partnering with faculty and students on evidence-based research initiatives, including review and support of research bibliographies and consultation on research design and methodology.
  • Deliver advanced bibliographic and information literacy instruction tailored to graduate-level research, strengthening student research competencies and supporting scholarly productivity.
  • Provide guidance and support for digital portfolio development, enabling students to curate and present academic and professional work for workforce readiness and co-authorship opportunities.
  • Engage in outreach, relationship-building, and collection building with faculty and students to increase awareness of library services and resources.
  • Advise faculty on researcher identity management and scholarly visibility tools (e.g., ORCID, Google Scholar), including profile creation, optimization, and research reporting strategies.
  • Support faculty scholarship dissemination and research impact to enhance recruitment, retention, and institutional research competitiveness.
  • Develop policies and workflows to ensure permanent, stable access to student and faculty scholarship, including persistent linking for professional portfolios and long-term digital preservation.
  • Provide guidance on open access publishing, including advising on publisher memberships, institutional affiliations and Article Processing Charges (APCs).
  • Collaborate with the Center for Innovative Teaching and Learning and graduate program directors to align library research services with institutional goals and emerging research needs.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Reports to the Assistant Director and Head of Research and Instructional Services
