Department Description:

The High Point University Office of Communications is a team of creative professionals who are passionate about sharing the High Point University experience with the world. We serve as the primary point of contact for all High Point University communications efforts, both internal and external. We support departments on campus with web design, social media, media relations, photography and video production, and branding.

Job Description:

High Point University's Social Media Team is looking for a motivated and creative student to join as a Social Media Ambassador. This role will support the social media team with various day-to-day tasks, including but not limited to copywriting, graphic design, video editing, account monitoring, and event coverage. The ideal candidate is enthusiastic about social media, detail-oriented, and eager to learn in a fast-paced environment. This position offers a valuable opportunity to gain hands-on experience within social media marketing.

Job Location/ Hours Required:

The candidate will perform most/all job duties in Roberts Hall. Hours may vary depending on the job requirements; however, the total number of hours a student employee may work per week is 20 hours. This position requires up to 15 - 20 hours per week.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist with the creation and scheduling of social media content.
  • Support graphic design needs by creating graphics, images, and other visual assets for social media platforms.
  • Edit and produce videos for use on various social media channels.
  • Monitor HPU affiliated accounts.
  • Provide coverage for campus events by capturing photos, videos, and live content for social media.
  • Conduct research on social media trends, best practices, and competitor activities to inform content strategy.
  • Perform other related tasks as assigned to support the social media team’s goals.

Required Qualifications:

  • Currently enrolled as a student at High Point University.
  • Strong interest in social media, marketing, and digital communications.
  • Basic knowledge of social media platforms (Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, TikTok, etc).
  • Experience with graphic design and video editing software (Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, CapCut, etc).
  • Excellent writing and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Willingness to learn and adapt to new tasks and challenges.

Desired Skills:

  • Comfortable and articulate on camera.
  • Involved on campus or in-the-know when it comes to campus events.
  • Ready and willing to bring new content ideas to the table.
