Department Description:
Recreation Services is a comprehensive approach to wellness, fellowship, and life-long fitness, that oversees the fitness center, group exercise, leisure activities, and intramural sports. As a student employee, you will gain the experience of leadership and management while enhancing your critical thinking and communication skills.
Job Description:
Represent HPUREC with a positive, enthusiastic attitude while monitoring/securing the safety of all within the pool area. Students will gain transferable job skills applicable in the real world through their HPUREC employment experiences such as leadership, communication, and persuasive skills
Job Location/ Hours Required:
The candidate will perform most/all duties at campus outdoor pools. Hours may vary depending on the job requirements; however, the total number of hours a student employee may work per week is 20 hours. This position requires up to (14) hours per week.
Responsibilities:
- Ensure the safety of all pool-goers
- Communicate the rules of the pool to all students
- Maintain a safe environment within the pool area
- Secure the pool area in the event of inclement weather
- Other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications:
Applicants should have prior experience as a lifeguard and up to date certifications.

- Must have a minimum (2.3) overall GPA
- Strong Communication skills
- Possess Leadership skills
- Maintain a positive attitude
- Be able to motivate others
- Able to work 8-12 hours per week, flexible hours
