SUMMARY/OBJECTIVE 

The Packaging Production Deisgner is responsible for translating creative packaging designs into technically precise, press-ready files. This role requires deep knowledge of prepress standards, color accuracy, and print production for a wide variety of packaging types including cans, bottles, corrugation, shrink sleeves, and display materials.

You’ll act as the bridge between design and manufacturing, ensuring all files are correctly built, optimized for the intended print method, and compliant with brand and regulatory guidelines. Projects include packaging, point-of-sale materials, trade show graphics, and retail activations.

 ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS 

  • Build and prepare mechanical artwork for cans, bottles, sleeves, folding cartons, corrugate, and other packaging formats
  • Tailor files to various print processes includingdry offset, flexographic, digital, gravure, offset, andshrink sleeve
  • Applydielines, bleeds, trapping, overprints, and safety margins in line with production specs
  • Conduct color separations (CMYK and spot), apply ICC profiles, and support proofing workflows
  • Collaborate with internal design and external print vendors to ensureaccurate, high-quality production
  • Perform file conversions, resizing, templating, and versioning across multiple SKUs
  • Maintain accuracy across product lines, ensuring consistency in layout, branding, and compliance
  • Generate digital mockups/renders using tools likeAdobeDiension, Esko or Blender
  • Conduct rigorous preflight and QC checks to flag and fix errors before hand-off
  • Manage file systems, naming conventions, and asset versioncontrol

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS

  • 3+ years of prepress or print production experience, preferably inCPG, beverage, or packaging-focused environments
  • Graphic Design experience with/proficiency in Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, and Acrobat
  • Familiarity with prepress tools such as ColorTone, PrintIQ, and Esko or equivalent
  • Solid understanding of print production methods and substrates (metal, plastic, glass, corrugated, etc.)
  • Working knowledge of color theory, ICC color profiles, Pantone matching, and print proofing
  • Ability to spot layout or design issues and collaborate effectively with the creative team
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Experience with FDA/TTB packaging compliance or sustainable packaging materials
