Medication Passer – Excellence in Patient Safety and Care 

If you are committed to hands-on safety practices, sound judgment, meticulous record-keeping, and compassionate care, you will thrive in this environment. Your contribution is essential to the safety and quality of life for those in our care. 

As a Medication Passer, your expertise will be focused on the accurate delivery of essential care:

  • Administer prescribed oral, topical, inhaled, and other non-injectable medications to residents/patients at scheduled times and in accordance with approved protocols. 
  • Adhere strictly to the "Five Rights" of medication administration (Right Patient, Right Drug, Right Dose, Right Route, Right Time). 
  • Observe and ensure medications are taken as directed. 
  • Administer PRN (as-needed) medications under the direction of a licensed nurse, ensuring prompt and accurate documentation of the reason and patient response. 
  • Ensure the proper security and storage of all medications, including controlled substances, and perform medication counts as required. 
  • Maintain the cleanliness and organization of the medication preparation area and medication carts. 
  • Accurately document all medications administered on electronic and/or paper Medication Administration Records (MAR/eMAR systems), noting dosage, time, and route. 
  • Respond promptly to patient/resident calls and requests. 


Education and Experience 

  • Education: High School Diploma or GED is required. 
  • Experience: Previous experience in a healthcare setting (e.g., long-term care, assisted living, or hospital) is strongly preferred. 
  • Note: Candidates without formal certifications may be considered based on relevant experience and demonstrated competency.
