Special Education Teacher

Job Title: Special Education Teacher Resource
Location: Highland Park, IL 60035
Pay Rate: $40.00 $45.00 per hour
Schedule: Full-Time

Position Overview:
Birch Agency is seeking a dedicated and motivated Special Education Teacher to join a Middle School team in a full-time resource position. The role will primarily focus on providing support and instruction for students with diverse learning needs. The teacher may also be responsible for teaching replacement math or ELA classes, while serving as the case manager for approximately 12 students.

Responsibilities:

• Provide direct instruction in a resource setting, supporting students in core academic subjects.

• Teach replacement math or English Language Arts, as assigned.

• Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).

• Serve as case manager for ~12 students, ensuring compliance with state and federal special education requirements.

• Collaborate with general education teachers, aides, and families to support student learning and inclusion.

• Maintain accurate documentation and progress monitoring.

Qualifications:

• Bachelors degree in Special Education (Masters preferred).

• Valid Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with LBS1 endorsement required.

• Experience with middle school students preferred.

• Strong knowledge of special education compliance, case management, and instructional strategies.

• Excellent communication, organizational, and collaboration skills.
