What is a Supervisor - Storerooms?

Central Hudson’s Supervisor - Storerooms provides direct oversight to the Eltings Corners Main Storeroom. A Supervisor of Storerooms plans, schedules, coordinates, evaluates, and supervises the activities and functions of crews engaged in the operation and maintenance of storerooms.

What does a Supervisor - Storerooms do?

  • Maintains a safe work environment that meets or exceeds OSHA standards while ensuring all storeroom operations

  • Monitors and evaluates safety, quality, productivity, timeliness, and customer service performance; provide regular coaching, feedback, and development opportunities to employee

  • Maintains a thorough understanding of the IBEW Labor Agreement and ensures consistent compliance with and enforcement of all applicable provisions.

  • Promotes and reenforces a a culture of safety for employees, contractors, and the public driving continuous improvement towards zero incident workplace

  • Plans, schedules, and supervises assigned personnel to achieve operational objectives while maximizing productivity, controlling costs, and maintaining high levels of customer satisfaction.

  • Strategically allocates labor, equipment, and material resources to meet operational demands and deliver responsive, high-quality service to internal customers.

  • Ensures work orders, material transactions, and associated documentation are completed accurately and closed in a timely manner.

  • Oversees and coordinates periodic cycle counts and annual physical inventories, ensuring compliance with inventory control policies, accurate reporting, timely reconciliation, and system integrity.

  • May manage assigned Stores Vending Programs, including inventory replenishment, asset maintenance, usage monitoring, and performance optimization of vending equipment.

  • For district storeroom oversight assignments - maintains a routine visitation schedule to provide leadership support, conducts operational assessments, obtains status updates, and drives continuous improvement initiatives with Storekeepers.

  • Plans, coordinates, and facilitates quarterly Stores Safety Meetings to enhance employee engagement, communicate safety priorities, promote best practices, and ensure compliance with established safety standards and expectations.

  • Serves as the primary backup for Stores Supervisors across the organization, ensuring seamless operational continuity and effective leadership coverage during absences or periods of increased business demand.

  • Operates with a high degree of independence under general direction by taking ownership of assigned projects and responsibilities, meeting established deadlines, proactively identifying emerging issues, and implementing effective corrective actions and solutions.

  • Provides leadership, coaching, and managerial oversight of assigned personnel to achieve organizational goals and performance objectives while controlling costs, safeguarding company assets, and optimizing resource utilization.

  • Collaborates with internal departments, customers, contractors, vendors, and external stakeholders to coordinate activities, support operational effectiveness, and deliver high levels of customer service and business performance.

  • Supports emergency storm restoration efforts.

What does it take to be a Supervisor - Storerooms?

Required:

  • An Associate’s degree in a relevant field such as Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Procurement, Finance, Accounting, or other relevant discipline and 3+ years of related trade and/or supervisory experience. In lieu of an Associate’s degree, a HS Diploma/GED and 5+ years of related trade and/or supervisory experience

  • Must be willing to respond to all requests to work outside of normal work hours.

  • Proficiency in computer applications such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills along with strong organization and planning skills

  • Valid driver’s license

Preferred:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in relevant field

  • 2+ Supervisory experience
