JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS

The Sports Information Student-Worker opening reports directly to the Sports Information Director and Asst. Sports Information Director. Responsible for assisting with the day-to-day coverage of Penn State Harrisburg’s 19 varsity sports.

Job Duties

  • Maintaining statistics and records for several sports.
  • Preparation of game programs.
  • Assisting with game-day operations.
  • Stat calling and inputting.
  • Preparation and distribution of press releases.
  • Writing news releases and event recaps.
  • Updating social media accounts, assisting in the live streaming of athletic events.
  • Public address announcing.
  • Play-by-play and/or color commentary.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • 2 to 10 hours per week, depending on the time of year.

Requirements and Qualifications

  • Must be able to work afternoons, evenings and weekends.
  • Strong writing skills, general knowledge of athletics, graphic design and video production are preferred.
  • May require the ability to work in an outdoor environment in adverse weather conditions including extreme heat and cold.
