We humbly acknowledge and thank the original caretakers of the lands on which we live, work, teach, and acquire and share knowledge.   GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF POSITION:    The Associate Director of Clinical Education (ADCE) will work closely with a clinical education team that includes the Director of Clinical Education (DCE), another ADCE, and the Clinical Training Manager to coordinate, advise, evaluate, and enhance the clinical education component of the curriculum. This may include, but is not limited to, soliciting and managing affiliation partnerships with new and existing clinical sites in the U.S. and abroad, performing site visits, advising students, enforcing policy, evaluating student performance, reviewing student and site feedback, communicating with clinical instructors and students, participating in accreditation processes, and administering other aspects of the clinical education program.   ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:    Solicit and manage affiliation partnerships with new and existing clinical sites in the U.S. and abroad, performing clinical site visits Advise students in the selection of their clinical experiences and ensure that they meet the graduation requirements for the clinical education curriculum. Communicate with clinical instructors and students Review student and site feedback Attend weekly team meetings for planning and strategy Participate in accreditation processes   SECONDARY FUNCTIONS:    The successful candidate will be expected to teach in one or more content areas within the program, based on candidate experience and program needs. Additional responsibilities include scholarly activities, student advisement, directing student projects, curriculum development, and service to the community, profession, and all levels of the university. The successful candidate will be expected to work cooperatively with faculty and staff in the program, school, college, and university.   JOB SCOPE:    Performs duties independently with minimal supervision, operating from specific and definite directions and instructions. Decisions are of a routine nature made within prescribed operating guidelines, policies and procedures. Mistakes/errors may result in work stoppage, loss of business, poor customer relations and/or damage to product, all of which can have negative financial implications for the university.   SUPERVISOR RESPONSIBILITY:    This position is not supervisory in nature. Supervision for the position comes immediately from the Director of Clinical Education and ultimately from the Program Director. QualificationsEDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:    The successful candidate will have doctoral preparation, at least three years of clinical experience, at least two years of experience mentoring students in a clinical setting or teaching in a physical therapy education program, and must be eligible for physical therapy licensure in Oregon. Preferred qualifications include previous clinical education administrative experience, classroom teaching experience in an entry-level PT program, Credentialed Clinical Trainer status (completion of CCIP course), ABPTS certification, or an academic doctoral (PhD, EdD, DSc) degree in physical therapy or a related field.   REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES & BEHAVIORS:    Skills and abilities include strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills, ability to work both independently and collaboratively to meet the diverse needs of students and the program, and the ability to travel to various locations for site visits. Communicates with students, faculty, staff and the public appropriate to the age of the individual served.    Builds on basic learning and carries it from one situation to another.    Demonstrates critical thinking skills in problem solving and decision-making.    Asks questions and seeks assistance.    Takes responsibility to eliminate the source of problems.    Demonstrates confidentiality regarding information pertaining to all students, faculty and staff.    Maintains proper appearance and personal conduct for the employee’s particular job.    Uses effective communication skills taking into consideration body language, filters, listening, paraphrasing, and questions with customers of diverse ethnic and cultural backgrounds. Demonstrates ability to work in a team environment. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, Google Workplace and file management systems (e.g., Box). Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to interact professionally with students, staff faculty and Program Director. Advanced organizational skills. Demonstrates the ability to work in a team environment. The ability to work independently with minimal direction. Demonstrates critical thinking skills in problem solving and decision making.  Asks questions and seeks assistance.   WORKING CONDITIONS:    Full-time, in person, on-site position on the Hillsboro Campus. Standard weekday hours 8am-5pm with some flexibility. There may be occasional early evening or weekend events (Commencement).
