Cook

Great Western Dining Service at our Jefferson College in Hillsboro MO, location is looking for a skilled Cook to prepare delicious meals.. An excellent cook must be able to follow instructions. They must be deft in moving around the kitchen and apt in multi-tasking. Experience in using various ingredients and cooking techniques is important.

Responsibilities:

Set up workstations with all needed ingredients and cooking equipment
Prepare ingredients to use in cooking (chopping and peeling vegetables, cutting meat etc.)
Prepare, portion, cook food items for various meal periods or special events
Ability to follow basic recipes and production information
Ensure great presentation by dressing dishes before they are served
Keep a sanitized and orderly environment in the kitchen
Ensure all food and other items are stored properly
Follow all company HACCP and safety policies

Skills and Qualifications:

Proven experience as cook
Knowledge of various cooking procedures and methods (grilling, baking, boiling etc.)
Familiarity with commercial kitchen equipment
Ability to follow all sanitation procedures
Ability to work in a team environment
Very good communication skills

Requirements

Physical requirements of the job:

Continuous standing/walking and other means of mobility up to 8 hours a day
Ability to reach, bend, stoop, push/pull and frequently lift/move up to 30 pounds

Other Information/Requirements:

Schedule: Monday–Friday, 6:00am–2:00pm
Time Off: Most major holidays off; approximately 1-month Christmas break furlough period; ~3-month summer furlough period.
Position Summary: This role supports daily food service and program operations, ensuring a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for students and staff. The ideal candidate is reliable, organized, and comfortable working in a fast-paced setting.
Key Responsibilities:
Prepare and serve breakfast each morning
Set up and prepare daycare food service
Make daily soup
Operate the smoothie bar
Run “Showtime” (daily action station/food service period)
Assist cooks with meal prep as needed
Maintain cleanliness and food safety standards
Support general kitchen and program operations as assigned

Requirements:

Ability to work the full 6am–2pm shift
Comfortable working in a team environment
