Position Summary
The Respiratory Therapist participates in planning, delivering, controlling and evaluating safe and effective diagnostic and therapeutic respiratory therapy services.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Performed majority of the time:
路聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Independently performs respiratory diagnostic testing, including stress treadmill testing and EKG鈥檚.
路聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Performs respiratory treatments as listed on the orientation checklist according to departmental procedures.
路聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Administers respiratory medication safely following hospital and departmental policies.
路聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Documents assessments, treatments and medications accurately utilizing hospital and departmental formats.
路聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 As a member of the Code Blue team, provides cardiopulmonary resuscitation.
路聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Maintains emergency resuscitation equipment and other equipment, in proper working condition.
路聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Participates in establishing a system to maintain a clean, well-organized, safe environment; reports potential safety hazards.
路聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Assists in maintaining adequate respiratory therapy supplies in the department and in-patient care areas.
路聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Participates in evaluation of new procedures and equipment.
路聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Demonstrates confidentiality according to PHI regarding patient and co-worker information
路聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Participates with physicians, therapists and other members of the health team in the formulation, implementation and evaluation of care plans for respiratory patients.
路聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Organizes, delivers, and evaluates respiratory care based on physician鈥檚 orders and individual needs of the patient.
路聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Instructs patients and caregivers about respiratory treatments and issues.
路聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Participates in a comprehensive inter-shift report of all patients receiving respiratory services and other reportable information.
路聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Executes round to cardiopulmonary patients and assesses status.
路聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Reports discrepancies in care through proper mechanism.
路聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Assists in maintaining quality assurance monitors as communicated with Department Manager.
路聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Participates in retrospective analysis of all aspects of respiratory care in accordance with JCAHO standards.
路聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Participates in all required meetings.
路聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Reports unexpected changes in patient condition.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS
Education:
Required
路聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 A copy of your highest science-related academic diploma or transcript required upon hire.聽
Preferred
路聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Associate Degree in Respiratory Care from and accredited program.
Experience:

路聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 N/A

路聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Minimum of six (6) months experience in critical respiratory care.
Licenses, Certifications and/or Registrations:
Required
路聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Licensed Respiratory Therapist in accordance with the State of Oregon.
路聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Registered with The National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC).
路聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 American Heart Healthcare Provider Basic Life Support (BLS) required within 90-days of hire.
路聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 ACLS or required within six (6) months of hire.
路聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 PALS or required within six (6) months of hire.聽
路聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Neonatal Resuscitation (NRP) or required within six (6) months of hire.
Preferred
路聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Current Registered Respiratory Therapist in state of practice.
