Job Description: Student Worker, Library

Department: Learning Innovation                                                                                                                             

Pay Classification: $12/hr (PT)                                                                                                          

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Reports To: Coordinator of Library Services 

Job Summary: Support daily operations of the library department.

Minimum Required

Education:                                       Must be Enrolled as a full-time student

                                                          Must maintain above a 2.0 GPA   

Minimum Required 

Experience:                                      Customer service and basic computer skills

Core Duties and 

Required Knowledge:                   Provides exceptional customer service. Performs circulation desk functions such as answering patron questions – phone, email, and in-person – managing borrowed materials, managing room reservations, and collecting library usage statistics. Assists library users in locating material in the collections using the automated catalog. Performs collections maintenance such as shelving and shifting books.

Strategic Vision and 

Program Development:               Contribute to the growth and enhancement of the libraries by supporting events, fostering student engagement, and assist in continuous improvement of library operations.

 

Collaboration:                                Work closely with library staff, IT and Student Experience staff members, and library visitors to ensure effective operations and a positive patron experience.

                                                          Demonstrates a commitment to maintaining a welcoming and safe environment that provides a sense of belonging for all.

Demonstrated Attributes:           Dependability, reliability, strong communication and mentoring skills. Ability to work evenings as required. Enthusiasm for libraries and technology. 

Other Information:                      This position may require flexible hours, including evenings and event days.

 

Physical Requirements:               Light work: exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. The use of arm and/or leg controls requires exertion of force greater than that for sedentary work.

                                                          Ability to sit and work at a computer for extended periods.
