Job Description:

The Role:  

Our site inĀ Hillsboro, ORĀ is seeking aĀ Lead Engineer, Manufacturing EngineeringĀ to join our team. TheĀ ManufacturingĀ Engineer will own sustaining and quality assurance activities for commercial products and lead continuous improvement projects to drive process efficiency and reduce product variation. TheyĀ will work closely with various business functions to support manufacturing processes and resolve customer product quality inquiries.   

  

WhatĀ You’llĀ Do:  

  • Sustain productivity and quality levels of the manufacturing process.  Activities includeĀ dispositioning ofĀ non-conforming materials (raw materials, intermediates, and finished goods),Ā establish/review/update SPC/SQC control limits,Ā maintainĀ FMEAs and Control Plans, andĀ participateĀ in customer quality and ISO audits.  

  • Drive productivity in the manufacturing process byĀ identifyingĀ opportunities and implementing solutions to improve safety, quality, productivity, and cost. Monitor and manage continuous improvement plans.  

  • Reduce variation in product and process parameters byĀ identifyingĀ key contributors to variation and implementing effective control systems and enhanced manufacturing processes.   

  • Lead root cause investigations of manufacturing out-of-control conditions by troubleshooting equipment and processes,Ā observingĀ and performing experiments,Ā locatingĀ the source ofĀ problemsĀ and implementing permanent effective corrective actions.  

  • Act as the equipment and process technical expert and provide training and certification to the Operation Associates.  ProvideĀ technical troubleshooting guidance to the Operation Associates, the Process Engineering Technicians, and maintenance team. This includes periodicĀ ā€œOn Callā€Ā support.  

  • Act as a mentor to the Process Engineering Technician role and direct the role’s day-to-day and long-term project activities based on businessĀ need.  

  • Develop and execute Design of Experiment trials, manage new product scale-ups, andĀ leadĀ new equipment installations & qualifications as dictated by businessĀ need.  

  • Manage the development of processing equipment operating programs and parameters.  

  • Lead machine breakdown resolution by providing guidance and hands-onĀ assistanceĀ to remedy and correct issues. Manage external repair resources as needed for technical repairs.  

  • AssistĀ in improving preventative maintenanceĀ programĀ toĀ optimizeĀ machine and equipment uptime for production.  

  • Participate as a member of a global engineering team to transfer best practices across sites and unit operations.    

  • Improve quality andĀ utilizationĀ ofĀ automation equipment and processes. Develop plans and lead expansion of future equipment incorporating current learnings to allow for enhancement and advancement inĀ subsequentĀ equipment revisions.  

  • Collaborate with development engineering in transfers of new products and processes and manage new product scale-ups.  

  • Effectively work with, and lead, cross-functional teams to drive continuous improvements that improve profitability, efficiency, and productivity in the manufacturing process.  

  

What We Seek:   

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, Industrial, Materials, or Electrical Engineering withĀ 5-10 years of related engineering experience required (semiconductor/polymer processingĀ a plus).  

  • Experience with chemical blending, injection molding, or compression molding isĀ a preferred.  

  • Experience with manufacturing equipment with programmable user interfaces isĀ a preferred.  

  • Experience with manufacturing planning and/or raw material coordination isĀ a preferred.  

  • Capital Project management experience is preferred.   

  • Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt is preferred.   

  • Experience with statistical software isĀ required,Ā experience with Minitab and/or JMP preferred.
