Job Title: Dental Patient Services Representative

Reports to: Dental Administrative Manager 

Job Summary:

The Patient Services Representative acts as the point of contact by greeting patients and visitors in person and over the phone and directing them to the appropriate clinic personnel. The Patient Service Representative assures that the delivery of high quality, cost efficient, culturally sensitive services comply with all Federal, State and Local agency policies and procedures as well as those at HICHC. Promote and support the Patient Centered Medical Home (PCMH) primary care model.

Essential Functions:

  • Answer the telephone promptly and courteously; scheduling patient appointments and taking messages. Identify urgent calls and transfer calls to the appropriate department or person.
  •  Register patients into the computer and generate the required paperwork for a patient visit. Confirm the patient's current address and phone number, and update demographic and insurance information as necessary.
  • Prepare patient charts for next day appointments and conduct insurance verifications and telephone appointment confirmations. Obtain necessary dental records/correspondence and accurately update the patient chart. 
  • Check patients in/out for appointments, secure patient dental records, and notify dental staff of patient's arrival. Document cancellations or appointments not kept in patient chart.
  • Monitor the status of reception areas, alerting clinical staff of unusually long patient wait times or obtaining assistance for any unusual situations including patient conflicts.
  • Receive payment and record receipts for services. 
  • Promote and support the Patient Centered Medical Home (PCMH) primary care model. 
  • Report to work as scheduled and on time and keeps supervisor informed as to changes in work schedule. 
  • Perform other duties as assigned 

Skills & Abilities:

Education: High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED): Required

 Experience: 1 plus years of experience

Computer Skills: Experience in Microsoft Windows environment preferred. Ability to competently utilize EDR (Electronic Dental Records) effectively
