Job Title: Chief Financial Officer

Department: Accounting

Reports To: President/CEO 

Summary: 

  • Responsible to oversee all financial aspects of the business, including financial strategy, financial planning and analysis, financial reports, company audits & tax preparations, compliance & bank relationships & other duties assigned by the President/CEO.
  • Responsible for safeguarding the financial health of the company and guiding its financial strategy to support long-term growth

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following.  Other duties may be assigned.

  • Collaborate with the President/CEO & the Executive Team on financial strategy and operations regarding I. Kitagawa & Co., Ltd. (IKC) & its affiliated company’s while proactively assessing and resolving issues across assigned projects.
  • Oversee the day-to-day accounting functions and processes.
  • Oversee, supervise & assist the Senior Accountant and staff with complex general ledger bookkeeping and payroll matters.
  • Oversee all accounts, ledgers, and reporting systems ensuring compliance with appropriate GAAP standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Prepare monthly financial statements, reports and variance analysis; clearly communicating findings, progress, changes and trends.
  • Oversee daily reconciliation of checking accounts.
  • Prepare Short Term (30 day) cash flow projections.
  • Prepare and review monthly cash position report and submit to President/CEO.
  • Prepare Long Term (1 year & 5 year) budget & cash flow projections.
  • Responsible for coordinating all external and internal audits of financial and accounting systems.
  • Leads the annual budgeting and planning process; administer and review all financial plans and compare actual results with a view to identify, explain, and correct variances as appropriate.
  • Provide leadership in strengthening internal communications with staff at all levels throughout the organization; create and promote a positive and supportive work environment.
  • Leads improvement projects related to IKC ledger accounting, parts & service billings, general ledger and payroll processes. 
  • Collaborate on work projects with other Departments & Managers in coordination with the Executive Administrative team.
  • Maintain a professional work environment where staff can develop to their full potential. Coordinate staff training and build teamwork.
  • Lead cost-benefit analysis of outside vendors and suppliers for quality goods and services.
  • Expert knowledge of the applicable IKC operations systems that affect the specific accounting task.
  • Manage the Company’s Matching Contribution 401K Plans.
  • Manage the Company’s outside Insurance contracts (Medical/Dental, Property, WC, etc.)
  • Assist President and CISO with the Company’s property assets, rentals, and contract agreements, including managing and monitoring agreement deadlines and renewals.
  • Oversee the HR Specialists and day-to-days tasks involving payroll, benefits, job offers and compensation packages, including conducting market rate audits, and other internal personnel matters as assigned by the President and/or CISO.

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • This position supervises all Accounting teams, Dealership Business Office, Facilities, and DSD Department.
  • This position supervises the operations of the HR team in coordination with the President and CISO.
  • This position supervises the operations of the Facilities team in coordination with the President.

Other Duties/Functions

  • Answers all incoming calls and correspondence in a pleasant, professional, and courteous manner.
  • Process payroll if not assigned to an Accountant.
  • Remains current with all mandatory safety compliance Safeguard training, and serves as an Authorized Official for the Employee Safeguard & Security Policy.
  • Assist with and take part in inventories at the Companies.
  • Work on and/or assist with any projects as assigned by the President/CEO.

Working Conditions

  • Air-conditioned, non-smoking office. Activities include extended periods of sitting & extensive work at a computer & phone.
  • Travel to other IKC affiliated companies throughout the Big Island necessary for facilities projects and/or accounting review.

  • Computer, telephone, office equipment (e.g. facsimile, copier, calculator, scanner, printers).

Work Hours

  • Regular business hours
  • Travel between IKC & affiliated companies may require longer hours.
  • Evening and weekend hours may be required to facilitate projects or accounting deadlines.

Mental Demands

  • Ability to work with multiple projects, tasks and deadlines.
  • Continuous alertness and attention to detail, concentration and ability to perform mathematical calculations to produce accurate work
  • Ability to work and effectively communicate with Sales and Service operations personnel on time-sensitive matters.

Communication Demands

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to work with people individually and as a versatile team player.
  • Ability to effectively listen, synthesize, facilitate, and present ideas both orally and in writing to diverse audiences of various skill levels.  Must listen and determine the true needs and expectations of internal customers at all levels (staff to executive management).
  • Strong business writing and proposal presentation skills using computer and information technology.
  • Clearly convey all necessary instructions and procedures related to accounting processes to Operations personnel.

Physical Demands:

  • Job will require commuting and working at other IKC affiliated locations to perform accounting assistance or address facility matters.
  • Entails occasional standing, continuous sitting and walking.
  • May involve occasional lifting of items up to 30 pounds.

 

Qualifications


Qualifications:

  • Strong organizational skills and ability to handle multiple tasks.
  • Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving, and communication skills.  Demonstrates business acumen and ability to handle complex concepts. 
  • Demonstrates competency in financial reporting and financial analysis.
  • Able to lead a team to accomplish desired team, department, and corporate goals.
  • Technically proficient in Windows, Microsoft Office applications (especially Word Excel, Access), general ledger, payroll and accounts payable systems.

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance or accounting required. CPA/MBA preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 -10 years of recent, progressively more responsible experience in Finance & Accounting.
  • Management and staff development experience.

Language Skills:

  • Ability to speak, read, and write fluently in English.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

  • Valid Driver’s License is required to travel to other locations.
