The role you’ll contribute:
Responsible for inspecting, assembling, and evaluating all surgical instruments and instrument sets to ensure quality. This position determines the need for repair or replacement of instruments. This role validates the completeness of each instrument set. In addition, this position facilitates effective sterilization processes. This role ensures all instruments meet the required standards for surgical procedures.
The value you’ll bring to the team:
- Operates sterilization equipment and inspects instruments, equipment, and containers to ensure cleanliness and proper functioning.
- Performs decontamination of soiled instruments, sterilization containers, and equipment according to instructions for use (IFUs) and established protocols.
- Corrects instrument sets according to current standards, established count sheets, and/or instrument tracking systems.
- Maintains proper levels of inventory to ensure availability for case carts.
- Performs regular quality assurance program audits of peers.
- Collaborates with the surgical team to ensure timely availability of sterilized instruments and equipment.
- Monitors and documents sterilization processes to ensure compliance with safety standards.
- Troubleshoots and resolves issues with sterilization equipment and processes.
- Trains new staff on sterilization procedures and protocols.
- Participates in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance sterilization processes.
- Ensures proper handling and disposal of biohazardous materials.
- Maintains accurate records of sterilization activities and inventory levels.
- Other duties as assigned.
The expertise and experience you’ll need to succeed:
- High School Grad or Equiv Required or
- Technical/Vocational School Required
- Associate Preferred
- One or more years of Work Experience Preferred
- Central Supply Tech (IAHCSMM) Required or
- Certified Registered Central Service Tech (CRCST) Required or
- Certified Sterile Processing Tech (CSPD) Required
- Basic Life Support - CPR Cert (BLS) Preferred Â
