Overview

The Senior Staff Accountant is responsible for ensuring the accuracy and integrity of the Company’s financial records, reporting processes, and internal controls. This position leads complex account reconciliation, month-end and year-end close activities, financial analysis, and audit support while serving as a subject matter expert across payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, credit, and cash management functions. The Senior Staff Accountant partners with operational leaders to provide financial insights, support budgeting and forecasting activities, enhance financial reporting, and drive continuous process improvements that improve efficiency, strengthen controls, and support organizational performance. 

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Lead month-end and year-end close processes, including preparation and review of journal entries, accruals, and reconciliations.
  • Analyze financial results, investigate variances, and prepare management reporting to support business decisions.
  • Research and resolve accounting issues while maintaining compliance with GAAP.
  • Oversee and support accounts payable, accounts receivable, credit, payroll, and cash management activities to ensure accuracy, timeliness, compliance.
  • Review and reconcile general ledger accounts, banking activity, and balance sheet accounts; investigate and resolve discrepancies.
  • Monitor customer credit exposure, collection activities, and cash flow impacts.
  • Maintain and improve internal controls and safeguard company assets and ensure accurate financial reporting.
  • Coordinate accounting support for internal and external audits, including preparation of schedules and supporting documentation.
  • Assist with regulatory reporting and other compliance-related activities.
  • Develop and implement process improvements and increase efficiency and strengthen financial controls.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert and resource for accounting team members and operational leaders.
  • Collaborate with departments across the organization to provide financial guidance and resolve accounting-related issues.
  • Asist with budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow planning activities through financial analysis reporting.
  • Support special projects, system implementations, and other finance initiatives as assigned.

Qualifications:

Education/Specialized Knowledge/Professional Certifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field required
  • MBA or CPA/CFA designation strongly preferred
  • Advanced knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting principles required

Experience:

  • Minimum 5 years of progressive finance experience required
  • 3+ years experience supporting month-end close and financial reporting
  • Experience with account reconciliations, financial analysis, and general ledger accounting required.
  • Experience in manufacturing or automotive service industry preferred.
  • Experience working with ERP systems and financial reporting tools required.
  • Experience supporting audits and implementing internal controls preferred.

Skills/Abilities:

  • Strong understanding of financial reporting, internal controls, and accounting processes.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including Pivot Tables, lookups, and financial analysis tools
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to interpret financial information and communicate findings effectively.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to identify process improvement opportunities and implement solutions.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
