The Insulating Operator position operates Tandem Insulating machines, which can draw, insulate, and spool copper wire. The Tandem Insulating process is the second of many processes required to manufacture telephone and Datacom wire and cable. This position must follow operating procedures and specifications in order to manufacture insulated wire that consistently meets physical specifications.
Primary Responsibilities
� Sets up and operates insulating lines and ancillary equipment according to established operating procedures and product specifications to include stringing up draw boxes, making color and band mark changes, servicing poly and color hoppers, changing and welding in copper stems, and checking samples while maintaining safety and quality requirements.
� Handles the finished product by putting bobbins of wire in storage racks; rolling bobbins to the inspection area; rolling bobbins to the scrap area; rolling empty bobbins to the machines and loading them
� Reads and interprets product and process information, including online measuring equipment, to correctly manufacture the product according to established quality standards
� Must accurately complete all paperwork and electronic data entry, including time sheets, production tags, and transactional production information.
