Job Description
PositionĀ Summary:Ā
Works under the direct supervision of theĀ Shift LeaderĀ with a dotted line reporting relationship to the department(s) for which support is provided.Ā Ā Provides diversified supportĀ ofĀ projects, tests, diagnoses,Ā experimentsĀ and any other higher level electrical and/or programming support function.Ā Ā This position requires that qualified techniciansĀ be responsible forĀ electrical design concepts, programming, cost analysis, troubleshooting,Ā debuggingĀ and testing of new and existing production equipment.Ā Ā The Electrical Engineering Tech will also be expected toĀ initiateĀ and complete projects that replace obsolete equipment, reduce operation cost, increase efficiency and capability, improve quality and any other ideas that lead to continuous improvements of automated manufacturing equipment.Ā
This position will include support for PLC, vision, motion control, digital displays, robot material handlingĀ systemsĀ and all other electrical control systems.Ā Ā Also provides electrical/electronic/mechanical production and project support including machine electrical control fabrication, troubleshooting and repairs for assigned product areas.Ā
This job must be performed with diligence and attention to detail because of the significant safety and quality risks inherent to the position.Ā Ā This position will provide leadership through work direction,Ā guidanceĀ and training to department personnel.Ā Ā Daily interaction isĀ requiredĀ with other departments, BDĀ plantsĀ and vendors.Ā Ā

Duties/Responsibilities:Ā
Essential responsibilities include but are not limited to:Ā
WillĀ be responsible forĀ maintainingĀ equipment in the sterilization area. Responsibilities include project work, working with vendors,Ā installationĀ and onboarding of new equipment, upgrading existing equipment, andĀ assistingĀ in other areas, as needed.Ā
Programming of any electrical control system.Ā
Backup for otherĀ technicians where service and supportĀ isĀ needed.Ā Ā May require working off shift.Ā
Installation and integration of safety control equipment.Ā
Maintains proper documentation for area(s) of responsibility.Ā
Ensures thatĀ appropriate qualityĀ engineers/techs/auditors/operatorsĀ are notified of programming/electronic changes that affect product or process quality.Ā
Maintains and repairs electrical/electronic and optical equipment inĀ the sterilization area.Ā Ā This includes troubleshooting, testing,Ā adjustingĀ and calibrating replaced parts, etc. in a manner that willĀ facilitateĀ a safe and effective repair.Ā
Minimizes quality risks due to the electrical/electronic machinery/equipment includingĀ maintainingĀ inspection systems.Ā
Minimizes electrical safety risk by ensuring approved procedures areĀ followedĀ and standards are met.Ā
Project workĀ includingĀ layout,Ā fabricationĀ and programming.Ā
Communicates andĀ maintainsĀ a favorable rapport with team leaders, engineering,Ā maintenanceĀ and production associates.Ā
Works with minimal supervision.Ā
IsĀ on-callĀ toĀ support forĀ downtime preventionĀ and technical issues, as needed.Ā
UsesĀ computers to program PLCāsĀ and interface with peripheral equipment.Ā
DrawsĀ new control diagrams or changes existing drawings using Auto Cad.Ā
Communicates daily events, projects, etc. to theĀ maintenance teamĀ on the next shift.Ā
Provides training to production personnel and/or other technicians.Ā
Must be available during planned maintenance periodsĀ
Performs other duties as assigned by Team Leader andĀ requiredĀ to support the needs of the business.Ā

Education:Ā
Associates DegreeĀ (Major: Electronics or equivalent),Ā requiredĀ
The degree requirement may be satisfied throughĀ demonstratedĀ relevant experience or by active enrollment in the applicable degree programĀ
Certificate of Completion fromĀ an advanced PLC training course, preferredĀ
Ā
Experience:Ā
2+ yearsā experience with related industrialĀ electronics,Ā requiredĀ
3+ yearsā experience withĀ industrialĀ controls,Ā requiredĀ
